The Faculty of Tourism organized a jacket ceremony for the new students of the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department. Hosted by Research Assistant Aleyna Gün, the event was held in the multipurpose hall of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. The second Coating Ceremony began with the national anthem and a moment of silence, followed by speeches by Prof. Dr. Sevim Beyza Öztürk Sarıkaya, Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Savaş Evren, Head of the Department.
Prof. Dr. Sevim Beyza Öztürk Sarıkaya stated that she shared the students' excitement at this year's second ceremony, noting that when the students began their education in the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, they took their first steps toward becoming gastronomes, and now, after their first day in the kitchen, they are progressing toward becoming good gastronomists by combining the theoretical knowledge they have acquired with practice. She concluded by emphasizing her confidence that at the end of four years, they would represent Gümüşhane, Gümüşhane University, and the Faculty of Tourism in the best possible way wherever they went.
Assoc. Prof. Savaş Evren expressed his delight that the jacket ceremony was being held for the first time within the department and thanked Gümüşhane University Rectorate, the Dean of the Faculty of Tourism, the teaching staff of the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts, and the students for their contributions to the department's success.
Following the speeches, the jacket-wearing ceremony commenced. Prof. Dr. Sevim Beyza Öztürk Sarıkaya, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Savaş Evren, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İsmail Çalık, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fazıl Kaya, Dr. Lecturer Seda Kamber Taş, Dr. Lecturer Murat Ödemiş, Lecturer Dr. Sedat Taş, and Research Assistant Aleyna Gün dressed the students in chef's aprons. Dr. Seda Kamber Taş administered the chef's oath to the students wearing their jackets. After the oath ceremony, a group photo was taken, and the ceremony was completed. Following the ceremony, the students went to the training kitchen to perform their first kitchen application wearing their chef jackets.
