Third-year students from the Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Department of Gümüşhane University's Faculty of Tourism conducted a field trip to the Ramada by Wyndham Gümüşhane Hotel on December 30, 2025, as part of their Hospitality Management and Service Techniques courses. The visit was guided by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Savaş Evren for the Hospitality Management course and Dr. Sedat Taş for the Service Techniques course.
During the field trip, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Savaş Evren first met with the students in the hotel lobby and provided information on "communication in hospitality services." Following this, a meeting coordinated by the hotel owner, Zekai Araz, provided students with comprehensive information about the hotel's general operations and departmental structure. During the approximately one-and-a-half-hour meeting, students asked questions about professional topics, gaining valuable insights into the sector.
After the meeting, the students toured the hotel's accommodation areas under the guidance of front office manager Ramazan Bozdoğan. Within this scope, the rooms on the 6th floor of the hotel were examined, and twin, French, double, suite, and king room types were introduced; detailed information was given about room layout and cleaning processes.
Following a tea and coffee break, the students visited the hotel's restaurant and kitchen areas. Students, informed about the restaurant located in the hotel's entrance area by Zekai Araz, toured the kitchen area in groups of five, wearing hairnets, and observed the kitchen organization firsthand.
After the kitchen tour, Dr. Sedat Taş, Assistant Professor, gave practical demonstrations in the restaurant area. This section covered topics such as table setting, table arrangement, buffet practices, service steps, and restaurant design. Students had the opportunity to observe and evaluate the practical applications of the theoretical knowledge they gained in their classes.
At the end of the visit, the hotel managers who guided the students, the academics, and the students took a commemorative photo in front of the hotel. The students and hotel representatives stated that the practical field trip made significant contributions to the students' professional development.
Associate Professor Dr. [Name] made a statement regarding the trip. Savaş Evren stated, “These kinds of field trips are of great importance for students to reinforce the knowledge they acquire in the classroom and to get to know the functioning of all departments of hotel businesses firsthand. I would like to thank the managers of Ramada by Wyndham Gümüşhane and the owner, Mr. Zekai Araz, for providing this opportunity and making our trip productive with the valuable information they shared.”
